In the past two years we ‘ve worked hard on two hotel projects abroad. While the renovation project in Switzerland was finished end of 2020, the renovation and extension of the +/- 10.000 m2 hotel Astoria in Austria was delivered to our client Intersoc last month.
Together with VandeAlps architecture, local architect, Boydens Engineering for MEP, Ingenieurbüro Wimmer+Partner for structure, main contractor RHZ-Brandl and the interior contractor Glocom Projects we built 76 new hotel rooms, a new multifunctional space and 4 activity rooms, while renovating most of the existing hotel.
Thanks to our sustainable choice for CLT, cross-laminated timber, as the primary structural building material, we could keep the construction time of the new hotel wing and the renovation just under 14 months during Covid-19. By using wood as structural building material and as exterior and interior cladding instead of concrete, brick, metal and plaster, the hotel gains 2.628 tons of CO2 out of the atmosphere! A leading step forward towards a climate-conscious attitude for the hospitality sector.
